I am going to but doom 3 then half life 2 later on. But i am not sure if my amd xp 2600 2.1ghz, 512mb pc3200 ram and a Nvidia quadro 4 980xgl will be able to run it ok? I was reading on other sites that even a 3.0ghx p4 with a gf 6800 was lagging. Would my system handle it ok?

quadros cant run 3d games very well... they are rendering cards and take the time to make things look nice... for doom, get nvidia 5600 and above or ATI 9800 or above. for hl2 get ati 9600 or above or nvidia 5900 or above. and no a p4 3.0 1 gig of ram and a 6800 will run on ultra with res on 1600x1248 or whatever that res is. but with AA off

I have a p4 3.0 1 gig ram pci-express msi ati radeon x600 xt and it runs it fine on high. Only porblem is my crappy monitor. My flat screen has a refresh rate of 67 and I get a lot of lines and things of that sort. My crt view sonic 19in flat is on the way though...wahoo:cool:

I thought it was against rules to post about games? Meh thats confusing! If you really want to upgrade that Quaddi (Wchi isnt too bad...) just go for a radeon 9800 Pro. Bang for ya buck there. Neat wee card i own one myself, and had flawless play in D3 the whole way through. The rest of your system is perfect, although you could upgrade to 1gig of ram for optimal, unpreeeeeecidented performance
