Hey there everybody! Do these download accelerators even work? I got this one that said I'd get 300% faster downloads, but I can't seem to get it to work. If anybody know of any that work and are free please give me a shout. Any/all help is appreciated.
I used a DLA once. Didn't make any difference to me. In fact as I recall, in some places it made life harder because they don't like DLAs much. But, some people claim to have seen results, so I wouldn't dismiss it completely.
A lot of DLA's have spyware put in them. =\ I think there pointless, they dont make it go faster at all
some download sites wont even let you use them, cause they like use multiple streams to download the file eg its like a few pc's downloading a bit each but it is really just 1 pc.
i like them because i can pause downloads and continue them later... or search for alternative download sources.
tech discussion?
i use the trial version of DAP...makes a huge difference for in downloadin stuf, but i agree with ScOrPY, i'm finding more and more sites are not supporting the accelerators. but the ones that still do are smokin!
There is no way to get more bandwith by using a software tool. To do this you must either manually configer your neighbourhood node or you must have terminal access to your ISP. Both are illegal.
Speedincreases are ofteh caused by bottleneck ethernet system.
I'm using a network shared by the entire building and if somebody is using a DLA, my connection gets slow as hell... DON'T use them if you're on a shared network!
They work, sometimes, what they do is take the name of the file your downloading and finds a mirror for that file, they make sure the name file is the same and the file size the same. Then you download from both mirrors, now adays they don't work like they use to.
Allright, thanks guys DAP is the one I got I just tried it once and it didn't seem to do anything for me at that site. Glad I didn't pay for it.
