Hi y'all. For gaming, what might I notice if my DSL speed is 1/2 of wha it is now... 1500 kbps dload/300 upload switched to 768 kbps dload/128 upload? For the people with DSL 768 kbps, do you see latency less than 100?

I notice todays PC games require or recommend 128 kbps upstream. I wanna downgrade my speed to save some money over the next year. If I like it, I may stay with 768/128.

Thank you.

Your ping will increase but it should still be fine. I had broadband around that speed for a good 2 or 3 years and never had a problem with it. Having said that, games are more complex and they are starting to need to move more data to and from the server.

Latency doesn't necessarily change at all; it's a function distance, line & signal quality, traffic levels and packeting.

Yea what a surprise. Latency didn't change much & I haven't noticed any lag:cool:
