AegenemmnoNlol. my Comcrap is 35 a month, and i get 300-400 Kb/s. i roxorz u boxorz with mah cab-le. :D im going to upgrade my service to 6000 down and 768 up. *pats cable modem*

Where do you live? I live in hibilly land, Bever county PA(think chi chis and hepatisis). We got 100 people using some old cable line from the 1960's to brobse the internet. I think there was 6mb avable but it was spread out between 100 people so we all got dial-up speeds. Verizion lays down new super 1337 fiberoptic lines and I got 1.5mb DSL and it owns cable. 1000 times more stable, lost my connection to online games about 5 times total with DSL compared to about 25 times daily with cable. Its about 3.5 times as fast too. I was getting 60kb/s with comcrap, now i get 220kb/s with DSL:D. I got my cable internet when it was owned by AT&T, I got good service and speed back then when no one used it.

Right now cable it around 5x faster than the DSL where I live. I've had both. My DSL was at 754Kb and my cable is at 3904Kb. The only differences I see is that DSL is slower and cheaper. The only problem you could have about cable is that it slows down when everyone on your line is downloading and uploading(neighbors). But Cable never really goes that slow and is capable of 52000Kb.

adelphia is alright, if you can get cox cable in your area, do it, its totally worth it, fast as hell, reliable, free grab-it and ftp servers, and theyre the only isp that refuses to give out ip addresses to the RIAA and MRIAA, i have cox, and have only had a couple minor problems, youll need to get a cable modem though, i suggest getting the one cox provides, from what i hear its the most solid and reliable one, i just got a new linksys and am already having problems with it =/

I've had DSL (SBC) but recently switched to Cable (Adelphia). Cable generally is faster, but DSL cost less, it's all about what you want. I wanted speed. -LS

DankI currently have Verizon business DSL and its reasonably fast. Unfortunately whenever it rains, the DSL either cuts off, or becomes slow as hell, as it is right now. I went onto roadrunners website, for cable, and it said it was up to a 100x faster than dial up. I tried to see if it was available in my area and it wasnt, Adelphia cable is. And even more unforrtunatly, its only 50x faster than dial up, half as fast as roadrunner. So my question to everyone, is what should I do? Should I pray that my verizon dsl becomes normal, which isnt all that good anyways, or upgrade to adelphia cable? Please help. And any insight into the differences between dsl and cable would be appreciated.smilie.gif And can cable use a wireless router, so it can go allover the house?confusedx.gif

The performance problems come in because the rain causes interference in the upper bands that DSL uses. You might here this as a low buzz, humm etc on your voice line, however the voice spectrum is only 0-0.4Khz and DSL goes 0.4Khz to 2.2Mhz so there's considerably more room for interference.

This wont fix itself. If its very annoying your best bet is to move to Cable, RG6/59 has better sheilding and shouldnt have those problems. If you want to fix your problem, you can try shielding the wire to the teleco demarc but its very probably the problem exists further down the line.

You are telling me Optimum online sucks? You are a rare case if so. Why did Cablevison suck for you?
