Hey all, I currently have 2x512 DDR266 Kingston sticks of RAM in my computer, I know it is preferable to put the same manufacturer and speed in for each stick when running dual channel. I have a 512MB DDR400 Samsung stick laying around CN M368L6523CUS - CCC 0529 PC3200U - 30331 - Z If I bought another stick of 512... Was wondering do I have to buy same model? brand? I know it will only run in DDR266 dual channel when with my sticks of kingston but I know that that is better then running 1.5GB's in DDR266 single channel...

Any 512mb stick should work as long as it's fast enough (ie DDR266 or higher). Whether it actually does or not, is another matter.

Haha, as experienced as I may be I have never come across the need to interfere with dual channel with different branding....LOL! But that's sweet, 2 gigs here we come! TIME TO TACKLE VISTA! Now we need nVIDIA to make a great play and this game is in the bag! VISTA TAKEN! OH! pNWAGE! :naughty:

Either way, 2gb will be better than 1gb, so go for it.

It might work, then again it might not. Ram can be pretty damn picky. You can try it but don't be surprised if you lose dual channel once you put in it.

Depends if the timing are the same, you may get away with it.
