"Ace Mega Codec pack" listed in the "downloads & Online tools" stickie, is a pack of programs bundled. Listed in the install is a little windows startup and regrun tweak program called Tweak UI. Very handy. You can specify the installation to exclude the stuff you dont need.

Technically this doesn't speed up Windows XP, but it will speed up your computer (probably). Get a free version of Linux and install it. Try Mandrake or SuSe or something else like that (Red Hat only do Enterprise versions now, although you should be able to find a download site for it. There was definately at least one last time I checked)

i reccomend a prog called spydoctor v2.1 which is unfortunantely not freeware BUT...u can find the unlock key easily..this prog starts up a scan at boot up which as you said APHIS ICON also removes virus related progs at start up removes cookies wen u surfing the net u also have 3 virus scan options....use the quick scan option if u want a quick scan of ur comp this option is reccomended for every day use...use the full scan option if u want a ful system scanincluding deep registry and file scanning...i recommend to use this option wen using spydoctor for the first time or wen u require a in-depth analysis of ur system...use custom scan to specify which categories should be used to scan ur comp...if it works get bak to me..... :wtf:=virus :wtf: :sarrow: :sarrow:=spy doctor

Do a defragment on the HDD and delete unnecessary stuff also. This will not only decrease the amount of files on the HDD, but put the files on the front of the drive so the drive spends less time searching for files.
