hey i am asking 4 help, my pc got a virus, it seen 2 mess up my hard drive so much, that it only reads 8 mb, even tho it is a 40 gb hard drive, then after 1o mins, my pc won't even turn on. wat should i do? buy a new pc or try 2 save my old 1?confusedx.gif

reformat, get your windows discs and wipe the drive. and please don't use "4" in place of for and "2" in place of to. It makes you look like a 2 year old.

Well, you're only three ;) If you don't have the OS disks (if your computer came with the OS pre-installed you usually don't get them) then try to find a recovery console. If you're running Windows you should have an option during start up, and if you're running Linux you should find it on the startup menu.

If you cannot start up and the PC is old/cheap....you may wanna save the trouble but in most cases you should wipe the hard drive. If in any case you start up windows normally or in safe mode, run as many anti virus apps and spyware apps as you can... good luck

I'm thinking it is a bad cable, or improperly set jumpers.

put the BIOS jumper in the reset position then put it back. if you don't know what the hell i mean by that, then just take out that little circular batery on your motherboard for about half an hour, that should reset it.

i try that.....did not work.....maybe the virus is a prob?

If the drive is bad, or the cables are bad, then it could cause the BIOS not to detect the drive.

Did you have a surge, or power failure recently?
