Hi, for some reason I get VERY loud and annoying static when I plug any kind of speakers or headphones into my sound card. 1/3 of the time its normal sounds.. 2/3 of the time its constant annoying static. I've tried everything I can think of from taking the wireless network out of my room because I thought it might be interefering and updating the drivers didnt fix a thing. Moving the card to another PCI slot didnt help either. My sound card is a X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Proffessional Series. (could they make the name any longer?) Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series The only way I can get good non-static sound is when I plug in USB headphones. Anything that directly connects to the sound card gets static noise like hell. This happened with my old Audigy 2 sound card as well and I thought the sound card was bad, so I went out and bought this one a while ago and it still continues.
Try to make sure that you don't have any electrical lines near the line your headphone line. Having electricity near your audio line can cause interference in the form of static.
I tried un-tangling its wires and gave it some more space..but static still continues.
hope its not a dead card
Doubt it, just bought it about a month ago and had the same problem with my old Audigy 2 sound card.
If it was dead, he wouldn't hear anything at all.
Strange thing about the static is it starts to crackle and pop to hell when im streaming online movies or playing a game online...
Do you have a network card near your sound card?
Nope, not even a network card in my PC.
