Which is your favorite operating system for gaming? vote and say a few words if there is a os you recommened but isnt up ther vote other and say the name and few words:
me i choose Windows ME (Mellinium) i favour it over XP for gaming, because first of all it runs ALL my Westwood games(RA2, RA, Tiberian Dawn, Dune, Etc.) and also plays alot of my not so new games with ease and fast...and also windows ME dose not require as much memory as XP to run. i have never used linux but ive heard it is mainly fo rgames and dosent run other system operatiosn well?? so id say ME is another advantege :D (there are also some advantages in XP)
well so in conclusion i choose Windows mellinuim.
Hi there. If it wasn't for the 512MB RAM limitation and a few newer games that run better under the NT type OS I would still be in Windows ME. XP is OK. I mainly switched to XP for the new SP2, but even that isn't blowing my skirt up too much. What I have always liked is Windows 2000. Still to this day, I don't have any apps that I can't run in it, and actually every game I have tried runs better in 2000 than in XP. Even benchmarks come out higher. To me, 2000 is like Windows ME, with the extra RAM capabilities.
nah, i like XP, its easiest, works better, and will play games better with the tweak capabilities.
I will stick with Windows 2000 Professional. Decent OS, better looking than XP, fewer resource hogging services. As soon as "ReactOS" gets finished, I may switch to it, for fun.
I thought ME was Microsoft's biggest ever cock-up. I thought it was riddled with holes and was like opening a door to a hacker. I chose XP.
I use XP because from a game playing perspective it seems to be the closest to 98 and I wouldnt go near ME let alone put it in the CD drive.
xp is the best for multimedia/ cameras mp3 players etc. but win 2000 pro is something i really want
XP: 2000 has reached it's EOL, and I've got XP whittled down to the point where it isn't too piggish.
I prefer Linux, but Cedega only supports about a quarter of my gaming library. While DOSBox would probably pick up about half of what Cedega does, there's enough current stuff that I can't use. So Window$ gets the nod for gaming.
I'm keeping an eye on Cadega, as soon as I get a new system, I'll use it and Linux, cause I can't afford the "NEW" games, often.
Windows 2000 may have reached the EoL. That doesn't mean it isn't a good gaming setup, besides, Its just XP Lite.

Microsoft should be forced to give every person who legally purchased a copy of Win ME a free copy of XP or Win 2k Pro. ME has to be the biggest POS ever. But back on topic, I like Win 2k Pro, it's lean and mean and I've never encountered a problem with it. I actually switched back from XP to Win 2k because XP is way to bloated for me.
