I will be having Verizon Fiber Optix soon and will have a dedicated 2K up and 15K down. Will I see any improvemnts on gaming with this over the cable broadband modem I and replacing it with? They claim it is 5X faster then broadband at roughly the same price.

Ok have the Fiber running now and its insane!! Real fast! I am averaging 1.9 up and 19 down. Now to see if my gaming improves....

Depends on your location, for the pricing. In my neighborhood, in which they just finished laying fiber, for that plan would be 50 bucks a month.

Hi All....just to update... I am paying $55/month. Speeds are constant. Even thought I have 15K down I and stying around 19K so I dont think I will be complaining. Noticed when playing WildWest Mod the lagometer looks great. No spikes and seems to run smooth. Where I really notice the difference is when I am sending and recieveng work related files. It is amazing how fast 20MB downloads!!

In a nutshell: only if you had bad latency prior. I live in what most people on this board would call wild, wolf-infested hinterlands and I'm just close enough to a junction box to pick up reliable, 768k DSL. I had dial up for the longest time, and I have to say that for gaming there is very little difference.

The downloads, however...

@OP~ Welcome to the Fios club, BTW. Yeah, it ain't at my house, but it's all over around here just the same. I'm in one of the original rollout markets. Figure it'll be to this house by 2009 or so :)
