Ages ago in one of the earlier version of firefox I remember sometimes after restarting the computer Firefox had removed all of my bookmarks, now that hasn't happened for a while, however today I forced shutdown my computer, I start it back up several hours later and I get a messaged that my Windows account is corrupt, so windows loads and everything is fine except for my Firefox bookmarks ARE NO LONGER THERE. I'm glad everything is still there, but now all of my bookmarks are gone is there any way i can retrieve them, is there some sort of backup the program does regularly? P.S. I tried system restore and it won't load up my account. It seems I'll have to reformat.

Edit: I hate Firefox.

Funny, I had the exact same problem yesterday.

Search your files and folders (make sure to enable "search in hidden folders" in advanced options) for "bookmarks". They should show you several backup-files (like bookmarks9/10 or bookmarks.bak), copy one of these to the folder where the real bookmarks file is located (c:\documentsandstuff\username\applicationdata\mozilla\firefox\profiles\xyz.default)

The backups are usually located in the same folder. Rename bookmarks.html to bookmarksold.html and the back to bookmarks.html and it should work fine.

If firefox asked you to make a new profile it may be more complicated, but there is a solution as well.

Thank you so much mate, I would like to bear your children seriously, If I'd known this a long time ago I would not have ripped out my hair every other time it happened, Thanx again.

It's allways a good idea to make regular backups of important files, like your bookmarks etc. :)
