Surprised its not been mentioned yet...:uhm:

Anyway, Firefox's new version 1.5 is now available in beta 1 stage. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/

I went ahead and downloaded it just to take a look. Now, i backed up my previous version and i reccomend you do the same, as this version doesn't support most add-ons as well as it being a beta version (less functionality, etc.). So far it looks like the regular verison, a little bit slower at start-up and about the same speed to load pages, however it seems to load better.

Not bad, but i'll wait a bit longer before i completely switch over to the beta 2 verison or so.

What's New in Firefox 1.5 Beta 1
  • Automated update to streamline product upgrades.
  • Faster browser navigation.
  • Drag and drop for browser tabs.
  • Improvements to popup blocking.
  • Clear Private Data feature.
  • Answers.com added to search engine list.
  • Descriptive error pages, redesigned options menu, and RSS discovery.
  • Better accessibility support.
  • Report a broken Web site wizard.
  • Better support for Mac OS X.

The update thing was needed, i've had problems downloading software before. The drag and drop tabs are cool, as i can keep GF open in my first window and other stuff in others. The clear private data is very similar to Opera's and it works well.

Edit: Ah crap, i didn't back up right. :p

I've had it for about 2 weeks now, its much faster, but they need to finish up some loose ends on the compatibility side.

I got it, then descovered it had wiped all of my entensions including AdBlock so I just reverted back to 1.0.7. I run 1.5 Beta on one of my other computers.

Many themes are also now compatible with the beta, so you can check back there too.

The 1.5 installation overwrited my old version, so I had to reinstall it. I can't run both without making a new Firefox directory, and I'm not rushing to use 1.5 on both machines - I find nothing wrong with 1.0.8, and they've got my support for 1.5 on my other machine anyway.
