I have never used a firewall since I been on 56K since the beginning, but a few friends told me that I need to have a firewall for protection anyway.

I got XP SP2 and it has a firewall option, but is it any good? What is the best FREE Firewall program I can use to be certain I am safe?

Zone Alarm and Kerio Personal Firewall are both quite good, although the free versions usually work only for some time. The windows-firewall isn't so bad, if you use it together with anti-spyware programs, a virusscanner and all available windows-updates you should be safe enough.

I use Sygate Personal Firewall. It works very well and is free. Have been using it for some years now. No probs at all. I think you can get it at www.sygate.com

I already use SpyBot, AVG Free, AdAware SE, and all the other great programs out there, so I will try ZoneAlarm.

Thank you all for your input on this guys! You rock!
