Well I've had a shitty day arguing with PHPBB to work, and quite frankly, I've given up, they are messy, hard to use, unorganized and slow forums.

Now I have always loved vBulletin because they are easy to use, I have experiance with using them, they are a lot easier to style for, and easier for users to use the what PHPBB is. However, I can't afford a legal version of vBulletin so using that is out of the question, I also refuse to use PHPBB. So I've been looking at PunBB (Demo Here) and I actually like it about 100% more then PHPBB, even though PunBB is even more featureless.

However, Before I consider upgrading to PunBB (Or in this case, Downgrading =p) does the community here have any other knowledge for the forum software I could use? It's an easy guess as to what I'm using the software for =p, yep, FileKings

I've set up a few phpBB 3 forums and had them working without problems in about 5 minutes each time. What's the problem with it?

As for alternatives, you might want to consider SMF. I found it a bit strange after using IPB for so long, but it's decent enough software.

The problem is the style setting up, VB is easy, "Admin>Styles>Themes>Edit CSS" Then just choose the colors from pallets etc, its basically a WYSIWYG editor for the CSS. And in general I don't like the look/feel of phpbb, they seem to unorganized and messy to me The style I'm after is so very basic, but so very hard to code because phpbb use SO MANY different classes etc

SMF seems like a great one to use. I have been using Invisionfree for my website forum for over 2 years without any issues.

invision is a decent forum app

It's a step up from phpbb but lacks a small amount of features found in vbulletin such as the ease of editing css and template code.

There is a free very limited version as stated above called invision free. However they offer a license at either a montly rate or a for life option. I have a lifetime license to it. It's about $250'ish for a lifetime, but you get free upgrades and no annual renewal fee like you have for vbulletin.

Nice, thanks guys. I'm thinking either, IceBB or MyBB, although for the time being, MyBB has it won

*double post* Hey, We decided on MyBB, and are very happy with it! Thanks Revenge *Reps Up*

Another Question though guys (part reason for the double post hehe)... We have our table headers through out the website and forums as a Dark Grey...(Hex: #363030) We are after another color to use, that will blend nicely, and stand out... A few colors that have been suggested include a Pink, Blue, and Cream...the Pink and Blue were hideous. I guess all in all any color that blends and stays on the same path as the current colors... Which Include... #e8e8e8 - Background Color #CDCDCD - Border Color #FFFFFF - Semi Transparent PNG Image for the Table Background Color (60% Opacity)

If you know the hex code for the color your thinking of, that would be great! I understand brown is a bad color to try to blend to
