Hello, I'm very new to these forums and i am quite limited on my knowledge about computers. Allthough i love my games! I play CSS, Bf2, GTA: SA :p I am getting quite frustrated lately because i have noticed i have quite bad FPS (random spikes of 20-30). I am not even sure when this started as i remember how once upon a time i was running games quite smoothly. My system is : 3ghz Pentium 4, 512 RAM, 9600xt vid card (ask me if you need to know anything else) I'm not sure if its because my computer is packed with shit that i dont need (i have used 104gig of my 120gig HD) But as i said i am not to fluent with computers. Is there anything i can do to improve my fps? is there something i should upgrade on my rig? please help. :(

Well Do you defragment often? Do you check for spyware often? Do you max out your settings with a deficiant GPU. There are endless possibilities. I would suggest checking you settings on a game and lowering the graphics, then runnning some spyware checks with Spybot and ADaware.

Btw: I TOOK YOUR FORUM VIRGINITY! BWAHAHAH!

Get a gig or 2 of RAM than this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102606 And your FPS problems should be a thing of the past.

Yup, get a new video card first, and then upgrade to atleast a gig of ram. A single one gig stick will run you a little over a hunder dollars.

See here for an example; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146190

However, make sure that you check what type of ram you have, and buy the type of ram you need.

why do you think i should get a vid card first? I thought 9600xt was a good card :( for some reason i thought RAM was more important :uhoh: lol.

For gaming, the graphics card is the most important piece of hardware.

The 9600XT was insufficient for games less than 2 years old, it defenatly lacks these days. Unfortunatly, you have an AGP board, so you are limited to your video card selection.

For upgrading, I would suggest a new graphics card, and at leats 1 gig of ram.
