Hey, do any of you guys have a dedicated game/Teamspeak server running from your house? I need some input as to what hardware would give me a good server. I would like to keep this as inexpensive as possible. Thanks. :)

I don't have one atm, but I've run some in the past. It's really not worth the effort unless you are in a clan and don't wanna hire one from a pub server company. Hmm...lets see though... 1. Obviously you'd need a decent internet connection, preferably the best, ADSL2@ 24Mbit. Otherwise you'll have people complaining about the laggy server. 2. PC hardware really isn't as important for dedicated servers as for playing the game, so a highend video card isn't necessary. 3. The CPU, RAM and hard disk access speed are important though. CPU and RAM for running smoothly and HD for quick load times. I'd suggest getting a P4 3ghz+ cpu. I know Athlons are better for games (well, so everyone keeps telling me), but you won't be playing them on it will you? P4's apparently do things like desktop work and organising data better than Athlons which is why I'd choose it for this purpose.

I personally run game servers on my main PC. They're only ever up for a few hours though, so it suits me fine. I am building a webserver at the moment, however, to host some forums.
