We've been looking at notebooks for college, and this is what I'll probably be getting. I'm just curious what type of games I'll be able to play with that card. I'm far from picky, on my desktop I'm happy to get 15 fps when playing Morrowind.

My current desktop has a gigabye of RAM, 1.2 ghz AMD Athlon, FX5200 graphics card, and Windows 2000. How does the laptop and the games it can play compare to the desktop? I read this article which basically made it look like it was much better than my desktop, but I just wanted to hear other opinions.

Of course the laptop is primarily for schoolwork and my photography, but it would be nice to be able to continue playing some of my favorite games. :p

As of right now most of them are older ones that I know will most likely do just fine. For example:

Freelancer Operation Flashpoint Battlefield 1942 (Forgotten Hope) Etc.

However, it's games that I couldn't even install such as Company of Heroes, Armed Assault or X3: The Reunion. I could care less about graphics, I'm just concerned about playability. Actually, I really don't know what games I'm concerned about since most of the games I play are five to ten years old. Basically, what couldn't I play?

It should play Freelancer ok but BF1942 won't be pleasent. You can forget about X3, CoH etc.

Operation Flashpoint, or Operation Flashpoint with FFUR?

One will work well, one won't. ;)

It'll definitley out-perform your old desktop. Freelancer and normal Operation Flashpoint should run fine. You may have to put some low settings on BF1942 though. You may want to look at this HP dv6000z. Can be upgraded with a 7200 Go, Free Vista Home Premium, 2GB ram, 2.0Ghz X2 AMD, and 160GB harddrive for $899.

You can pretty much forget any thought of running newer games on it, but it should cope well enough with older ones. Stuff like Morrowind will be fine.

Yeah, it plays older games well (GeForce 6150 LE is what I'm using). It plays Jedi Academy great, UT2004 runs perfect on mostly high settings unless your playing on a custom map, sometimes map textures have to be on normal. It runs both KOTOR's fine, an occasional slow down, but its very rare. It plays alot of MMORPG's well, like City Of Heroes, City of Villains, World of Warcraft. Its an okay graphics card.

I don't think I've played an unmodified OF since 2005. :p

Doesn't matter, I'm used to getting 5-10 fps with all low settings with FFUR anyway.

I would look for a laptop with a Geforce Go 7 if possible. I believe there's a Go 7300 that shouldn't add much more cost and should be easy to find. If you want good gaming from it, look for one with a Go 7600.

Your not going to be able to do alot of gaming on a 6150, at least not with good settings.
