Hello My system spec is as follows:- AMD Sempron 2.6ghz 2ghz DDR 333mhz RAM 1 x 80Gb HD 1 x 300Gb HD ATI Radeon X800XT Now, my problem is an apparent lack of performance with certain games. According to what i've read, my system should be able to handle BF2 on maximum graphics settings with no real slowdown, but I experienced some glitches (strange mesh errors, texture artifacts and textures seemingly losing their UVs) so I set it all to medium, as the Tweak Guide suggests, and it looks the same (virtually) but these errors have dissappeared largely. However, recently I used ATi Tray Tools, and it seems to have vastly sped up performance and visuals with certain games (Dawn of War was unplayable, corrupted text, odd shadows and so forth until I applied max settings in ATi Tray Tools and now she runs like a dream, unless its a massive fight, but I could probably tune down the Anti-A to x4 or x2 rather than x6 to fix this, it was just an experiment to get DoW working). The bummer is, now BF2 is playing up. It runs dog slow, even on the main menu. Ingame is an unplayable lag fest, even on single player. I'm not sure what settings are wrong but, BF2 HATES my PC now. This isn't a game specific thread though. I am just wondering what you more experienced tweakers of graphics cards and so forth would reccomend to try and get my system firing on all cylinders again. I am concerned that the 3d previews in ATi Catalyst Control Panel now just show garbled glitches (identical to the strange mesh errors I had in BF2, actually). So, what medicine does my PC need to get her healthy? Squire James

Well. I would recommend a defrag as tweaking can mess up system files (so I have heard), do an error check, install new drivers, try a reinstall of bf2 and the 1.4 patch. Thats about all that I can think of. Try those and see if that helps.

Thanks, I'll try that. Just curious, what are these ATi Omega Drivers, and will they work with my X800XT? I've had some trouble with drivers in the past, so when I find a set that work I usually stick with em.

I have little to no experience with ATi cards. The only card by ATi I have ever used was the X300 Saphire edition. I'm not sure about the Omega Drivers. As I'm about to fall asleep I'll check back on this thread later today.

The Omega Drivers are a set of third party graphics drivers. Supposedly, they perform better than the "real" drivers. Years ago I used their ATI drivers, but I honestly can't recall any particular difference in performance.

It also appears that the ATI half of the Omega Drivers is presently on hold.
