I would just like to ask if anybody knows what are the benefits of buying Genuine Windows... I doubt that many people here have it because it so expensive......price for Windows XP is ridecelous.:bawl: I know this:for Windows Vista for example Recently Microsoft had a 50% price cut for Home Basic and Home Premium Editions of Windows Vista. The price cut is mainly targeted at China which has the 2nd highest software piracy rate in the world after Vietnam. The reason is to compete with pirate software market. Pirated version is better, why buy an expensive genuine copy? I would like to share my thoughts on this. Consider these facts: Genuine

  1. Limited number of reinstalltions of Windows Vista.
  2. Activation via internet or phone activation.
  3. Hardware upgrade problems.
  4. It’s expensive.

Pirated

  1. No reinstallations problem.
  2. No any kind of activation, easy to install cracks, pre-cracked Windows Vista.
  3. Noone cares if your hardware changes.
  4. Yeb. It’s free icon_razz.gif

This is just a question ! Not promoting illegal stuff. And advices here plz ?

You wouldn't want Bill Gate's kids to starve now, would ya?

I can't really argue with your points. They're all pretty much accurate.

Anyways, one is legal and one isn't. And you're probably breaking every rule in the EULA, something that all of us always read through every time we install something, right?

Another reason, is much like insurance fraud raising premiums for all, piracy likely makes it cost more for those of us who actually buy the software as they try to recoup the money lost. Then again, even without piracy, I'm sure they'd stick it to us with $300 price tags anyways.

btw - More people than you might think have "Genuine" windows. It pretty much comes with every pre-built computer, and most people in general wouldn't even have a clue where to get it otherwise. Excluding people in China that is.

This thread, while not actually endorsing piracy, is likely gonna get closed anyways as it's borderline. They tend to err on the side of caution here.

Huh? What? Oh, so thats thing that i always skip past...;)

I think most people do have Genuine Windows, as like Oblivious said, your everyday average windows user would probably have no idea what to even get a pirated copy.

Most people choose to buy it, simply because they other alternatives to buying it are illegal.

If you want a free OS, use Linux.

If you want a free OS, use Linux.

Of which the common computer user would never be able to do because they can't code.

Quite frankly I'm surprised this thread was even allowed. Do you really expect to be alowed to promote the idea of pirating software on a public forum, then get people to believe it's not one of the causes of higher prices? Theft never solves anything and like the old saying suggests, there is no honor amongst thieves. It's been said different ways from Shakespeare to Quixote to Hazlitt, but it basically means a thief can't be trusted, by anyone. You won't really understand that until you are stabbed in the back by one of your fellow pirates.

First of all:

Too expensive is a relative term to be honest ...

As Merrick said....true. Second of all:

You are so full of it.Every time I ask for something you come marching in with some fancy Shakespear stuff.THIS ISNT PROMOTING PIRATED SOFTWARE WHICH PROVES you didnt read my first post.As I clearly stated there. I bought parts for my computer...actually a good friend of mine which is 40 btw and knows practicly everything. My PC is customly made so.....basicly he is the kind of guy as he got pirated version without any trouble. You know he is a graphic designer....almost done with university so dont blame him nor me. As Oblivious also said like they would stick it to 300 $ do you even have a f****** clue how much is that here ? You earn that much in 2 months ffs if you didnt know.If I dont have the money Ill use pirated...Im not fancy rich men as you are so....So crawl back to the Stalker forum and torture ppl there. This topic can be closed.I just wanted to know what are the benefits.Thx guys. All of you really helped.

Thats true. But, Linux is really the only option if you want to stay legal, without having to pay anything.
