Remember people do NOT mention pirating, warez or anything like that. I had to delete a few posts already. These are banned as explained to you in the forum guidelines and anybody violating them will be dealt with accordingly.

Aristotle13Okay, well, I bought a rig very similar to that set up, ran a 6600gt OC, OC'd and it ran FINE. That's first hand experience. I swapped out the PSU about a month later. Until then the 300w stock PSU did fine with that exact same set up. 1 gig of ram, amd3700, 200 gig sata, 6600gt, DVD/RW DL, CD rom, that's all remnants of my HP Pavillion a1230n.

Getting that E-Machine is still your very best option and should be a no brainer. Check my old threads, my rig I have in my sig is an HP. An HP that'll outperform some of the custom made rigs floating around here.

Trust me, when I asked about the HP everyone practically dogged it out too, but it's been very good to me and gets some decent benchmarks. I built it all up slowly too.

Alrighty then lets hope if he goes with the T6524 then it runs a card fine or as he said he can just buy it + another psu and wait for the money for a good vid card.

But FoolBird66 did the rebate expire or not if it didn't and ur gonna get the T6524 rather than that other one hurry up and get it

But, he has to buy something within his budget, and his is around the $500 range. Noone has any illusions about it being a high end pc. And it's far from "crap".

Remember, not everyone can spend $1000+ on a rig. I just spent 3 times that on one, and it will obviously blow the one he's considering out of the water, but I and others realize he can't afford to get high over even mid range parts on his budget. What's on the table at the moment will work fine for gaming, just not on max settings.

If you can find him a better pc for the money, then by all means do so.

That's the one we've been referring to: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1696985&CatId=1883 (from post #24 of this thread)

All it will need is a decent video card to fill it's pci-e 16x slot. ;)

The way I look at it is that no matter how good a PC you have someone will always have something better than you, be it the CPU, GFX card, RAM etc. Bottom line is generally speaking the more cash you slap down the better performance your PC will have.

The PC I have now is a midrange PC and cost me nearly £1,500 ($2,800) but plays all the games I want it too fully maxed out. I built it myself instead of getting it from some crappy computer shop where for £1,500 I can get something that wil struggle to run Half Life 2.

Though for $500 you ain't gonna get much which ever-way you look at it so you are going to have to compromise somewhere.

I'ma go to Walmart. And costomize my pc there and buy it for however much it costs. That is when I get enough money. Hopefully they'll have good video cards there. If not I'll save up enough money for a good one. What I am looking for is a pc that has over 100GB hard drive, minimum 512 RAM, over 2.0GHz processor and a video card that'll run my games as well as a few newer titles that I'll buy such as BF2 and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I can't get the Mega Special II from Cyber Power Inc, becuase the specials run out tomorrow.

exactly for $500 you wont get much but the T6524 has potential to be a crazy good computer for those who must wait to buy it the upgrades to be a true gaming pc which is Foolbirds case. Allthough i dont believe hes goin with the T6524 anymore but either way we steered him clear from the dell and gave him some more options i beleive he can make the best choice which ever it is.
