I'm thinking of getting a new GFX card and CPU for my aging P4 Socket 478 system. I don't want to upgrade to a PCI-E and Dual Core system or anything like that. I just want to know if this is a good GFX card for AGP. Newegg.com - XFX PVT71AYDF3 GeForce 7950GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail And if this is a good CPU for Socket 478. Newegg.com - Intel Pentium 4 3.0E Prescott 3.0GHz 1MB L2 Cache Socket 478 RoHS Version Processor - OEM If there's anything better please put a link to it.
Thats about as good as youll get. 3.2 was the highest you could go with a 478 but a 3.0 is cool. I read a recent magazine where they souped up a 478 with a 3.2 and a 7800gs with some more ram and it was able to compete with brand new systems on games etc no probs.
Wow I didn't know that the 478 was really still that good. Thanks a lot UNDIESRULES.
