Ok, fellas... going to college soon to get a four year degree in software engineering..... I need a laptop that isn't demanding on power (i.e. very long battery life) but still provides the computing power I need..... mind you I need lots of RAM.... good size harddrive will do, say 160 gigs?..... minimum 17" screen...... just so ya' know, I won't be using it for gaming, just programming (Possible 3D art) so a medium range video card will do.... budget is around $1500-$2000..... no modem needed, LAN will do.... Windows Vista compatible as well.... uhhhhh, I think that's it..... hope I provided enough details to pinpoint my future faithful lappy, thanks....

Great advice... Anyways, I would get a Dell laptop - stability, reliability, and great customer service. On top of that, Dell allows you to customize your model to your very specific needs. Look here: http://www.dell.com/content/products/results.aspx/notebooks?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04 That's all of their customizable models, have fun!
