Hi. Im building a system and am looking for a good cooler for the Q6600. I am leaning towards something like a Zalman CNPS9500 or a Arctic Cooling 7 Pro because they are smaller and will fit in my case (Antec 900) with no issues. Something like a tuniq tower or thermalright 120 would prevent me from installing an extra side fan that I would like, however I am open to suggestions. Any help is appreciated.

The Zalman you mentioned is excellent, if a little expensive.

You actually may find that the stock cooler on that Q6600 is satisfactory. Intel's recent chips (Conroe, etc) have been coming with some pretty decent fan/heatsink assemblies. I've read of many folks getting some pretty damn impressive overclocks on the stock cooler.

For instance, the dirt cheap Intel E2140 I bought a couple months ago came with a good cooler; with a 50% overclcok, temps only rose about 1-3 degrees for both idle and load.

Otherwise, it's hard to go wrong with a Zalman.

I use the copper version of the Zalman model you mentioned. I run a core2 extreme 2.93ghz and it cools it with little effort. I strongly recommend it.

That's considered one of the best coolers out there; don't hesitate to buy it.

This is pretty much true for air coolers.

Those are supposed to be good too. The only possible drawbacks would be that it comes with no fan (you need to buy a 120mm fan seperately) and it's the size of a Buick.
