I've been looking for a very reasonably priced computer on which I can play online pc games. I found one for a really good price, but the only way I've ever been able to gauge quality processors are how many GHz they are. I really don't know if this is a good processor or not, here's the description given: AMD 64 X 3000+ Procesor The AMD Sempron™ processor performs at the top of its class when running the home and business applications most. The AMD Sempron™ processor’s full-featured capabilities can include AMD64 Technology, HyperTransport™ technology, up to 256KB total high-performance cache, One 16-bit/16-bit link @ up to 1600MHz full duplex system bus technology, and an integrated DDR2 memory controller. I don't want a supercomputer because I just can't afford it, but I want one that is good enough to keep up with online games. To give you an idea, I like World of Warcraft, Battlefield 2... So, can this processor perform? I'd appreciate some insight because I'm kinda clueless about this at the moment.

I take it you're just looking for a new processor and you're limited to amd?

here's the link to view the computer on eBay: BRAND NEW AMD64X 3200 NB COMPLETE GAMING COMPUTER NR - (item 230160209799 end time Aug-09-07 19:07:54 PDT) Keep in mind I am a college student and I'm broke. I don't have money to blow on a really nice computer. I just want to get a good deal on a desktop that can perform pretty well. So, what do you think of that computer? And what's so bad about eBay? If I get the item and it works, what's the difference?

You realise that bid can increase hugely within 10 hours? And also that Geforce 6100 may pass for WoW but won't run BF2 very good. The CPU isnt very fast either. Most things on Ebay have been used before even if they say "new". Why would someone buy a new PC and then put it up on ebay with a starting bid of 5 dollars unless something was wrong with it?

no this computer is being sold by a large company, this isn't the only one being sold. They have 100's of these. If you look right now, there's several for bid right now. I know how much the bids can increase, I've been watching these and they sell for on average $210 or so, with 50 dollars shipping. But, I appreciate your insight about the computer. I know how to gauge how fast pentiums are, but I'm not too familiar with the AMDs. How would this processor compare to like a P4 3.0 GHz?

They would probably be about the same...the AMD may slighly be better. But the CPU isnt everything. As I said before, that Geforce 6100 Isnt very good if you plan to do gaming. Also the PC comes with no OS. So your going to have to buy one. That can cost $100-$200.

alright well I appreciate it Steven. I'm not worried about the OS because I can get Vista or Xp for that matter from my university for really really cheap since I'm a student. Thanks for the help.

1. Don't buy a pc on ebay, i know its tempting but don't 2. If you get an AMD machine i wouldn't go with a sempron 3. 6100 graphics are kinda crappy to todays standards and correct me if im wrong but i believe thats intergrated???

There really trying to shove a bunch of crap down your throat, i feel like im watching QVC. If your using this for college a 40gb HD isn't going to give you any space at all. And 512mb of ram is like the bare minimum now. Oh boy! get ready for pop-up and longer loads! And yes the 6-series has good technology and makes for a good budget card, but not integrated 6100. IF you do go with 6-series make like like a 6800 or at least something with 256mb. If you really want a cheap gaming pc check out ibuypower.com
