Lately ive noticed that my computer is running quite a bit slower than when i first got it. i know i have no viruses, though of course i get spyware but i find and delete it on a regular basis. however, there ARE certain items that show up in every search and even if i click delete (and it says that the removal was successful) and search again right after, those items will once again be detected on my comp. one of these is virtumonde which i think is pretty bad and probably takes some work to fully remove. but i think my real issue is the number of processes i have running at one time. of course, i can choose end process but as i have no idea what most of them do, its probably not a great idea. so do you guys know of any good programs for removing stubborn spyware/adware and/or removing unnecessary processes so i can get my comp back up to its highest functionality? i really wanna play doom3 and hl2 again smoothly!

*edit* >.< crap i just realized this should probably be posted in tech discussion. sorry! (i suffer from a lack of sleep and common sense)

I would advise fire. It is a bit messy, and it can severely damage your computer, but it IS quite effective.

CCleaner for windows registry. Adaware SE Personal for spyware Disk Cleaner(?) for defragment TuneXP for tweaking ;), search battlefield 2 optimization guide and go to page 4 and 5 on the IGN Link for a great "faster windows" guide.

Thats really all I can think of that will get your computer up to original speeds short of a full out HD clean or whatever thats called.

I agree with Carl. I use Executive Software Diskeeper to defrag simply because I read that it was more effective than Windows defragmenter. Windows Defender Beta also removes spyware effectively as well.

Also, if you're not sure what a process does, just type it into Google, and you'll find several sites telling you what it is, if it's something you want, and if you can get rid of it.

it's probably cool, someone asked for help, and Monseur(sp) Mullet provided it.
