Heya all. If got a few questions concerning my Graphics Card. I'd like to buy a new one, but I don't know much about them. I'm afraid i'll either buy an worse one, or one my computer can't handle or something. I've currently got a NVIDEA Geforce 4 MX 440. It has been good till now, but now it gets old; and won't even play some demo's anymore. So i figured out it was time for a new one. Do you guys have some good, (cheap?) suggestions of good Vid-Cards I could be, on which i'll be able to play games like FEAR and BF2 and that kind of stuff? As my knowledge is pretty small at computers (well, it isnt compared to my friends, but it is compared to some of you), I don't know all my system-specs. I do have AIDA32, so i can look it up, as long as i know where to look :P. Well, from what i know: -Intel Pentium 4A, 2400 Mhz -256MB Ram (which i would also like to upgrade) - Nvidea Geforce 4 MX 440 Ok, well, that was it, from what i know. My questions: Do you know a good, (cheap) alternative to my current vid-card? And, how much does some extra RAM cost? And, if you guys have an average expectation of how much it'd cost in total (a new vid-card +some xtra RAM), plz post, it doesn't have to be exact at all.. Much Thanks, -Griffin. (oh, and don't laugh at me )

QuikSilver66sorry cant help

Hope that is not habbit forming:rolleyes:

256 RAM is no where near enough. Grab 2 512 sticks of PC 3200 RAM. Should run you about $150 or so. As for a vid card. I assume you have an AGP slot. Lets start off with how much do you want to spend and how fast do you want to go? I ask the same question for people wanting to MOD their engine ;)

Maybe a Geforce 5700 will be... reasonable... I have it, and plays most recent games pretty good. Not max graphs but what do you expect. I'm my new pc i have a PCI-E X800 256MB and this baby rocks! Awesome graphs. Can play all my new games maxed out. I think you will need to buy at least 1 stick of 512MB RAM, and a video card. Although i'd reccomend that you take the 6600.

now, he asked me which GFX card I wanted: the 6600 256MB OR the 6600GT 128 MB

what would your choice be?

ram: just get rid of the 256mb for a 1gb set.

$85 is about as cheap as you can go.

Video card: Going higher than a 6600gt will be a waste of money on your processor

only $130 after the rebate. Does a good job on fear and BF2.

Wow, ok thanks. I'll highly reconsider that.

Thanks for all your replies.
