More than likely it will be fine for what you're doing. If you plan on getting any really new games or anything demanding a lot of power, I suggest you spend an extra $130 (A bit high I know) and get the 7900 GT. It's a very powerful graphics card (24 Pixel Pipelines :D) and for stuff as equally powerful competitively priced, its a great deal. But yes, if you don't want to spend $230 then the 7600 GT is the best thing to upgrade. There may be an equivalent in ATI, but I'd just stick to Nvidia.

question tho, even tho i play fs 2k4 good just those few occasional stutters, with anti aliasing turned on and reflections, 70% cloud coverage, do u think that i would play doom 3 or farcry with the settings caranked up a bit? i play fs2004 at 1024 32, get an average of 25fps

Well, With that 7300, you could play them at medium graphics maybe, probably low. The 7600 would probably get up to Medium, maybe even High, but it would take tweaking to get it running good.

the 7600gt could probably do far cry pretty well on a high res with all settings high, just stay away from high AA and AF settings.

Well I play FS2004 quite a bit.

I personally have a P4 2.8GHz, 1Gig of Ram, and a PNY 6600GT (128MB, AGP) and I can run 4x AA, Full Drawdistance, All Settings Maxed, at 1280x1024 flawlessly. I mean no shuddler at all.

So, I don't see why the 7600 couldn't even run it a lot better.

I have a BFG Tech 7600 GT and it runs evey game alright at 1024*768. Getting a nice improvement over my 6600 GT.

I've heard the ATI Radeon 9550 can run Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Half Life 2, and Doom 3. All maxed with no problems. Its as low as 80 bucks now.

Where did you here that?

Well the 7600GT is a good card and should be able to run most games at 1024/768 easily with graphics on med high to high. And you can always upgrade to SLI and get the same preformance as a 7900GT. However if you want to play stuff like FEAR than you will have to turn settings down. but over all most games will run well on a 7600GT.

Buying a 9550 for $80 would be like throwing your money away anymore. And besides, his system is PCI Express, and 9550's are AGP.
