Ok, seeing as my MSI Nvidia 6600 GT is now inferior even though I got it less than 6 months ago (Damn you EA), I am considering getting a newer card that costs slightly more than mine did originally. I'd really like to spend around $300, but I'll go as high as $350 if its a very very good card. I can only use AGP due to the fact that I've had lots of trouble finding a motherboard which supports my P4 3.0E and has PCI-Express. I really need to have 256 mb as well, to improve my BF2 performance. I found this and this browsing through Newegg. Both of those looked good to me, but I'm not the most knowledgable person about this sort of thing, since I have no clue what Pipelines are, and whatnot. Thanks for any help you all have to offer.

They are quite close, but i would get the 6800gt because of pixel shaders 3.0. It might give more life into your card. I think Far Cry uses it. The GT can also be overclocked to Over-Ultra speeds normally on stock cooling. I've heard the XL is not a good overclocker.

Are there any other good cards for a tad more or are these the best that I should try to get?

Real AGP 6800GTs start at $279 on Newegg. Skip the first result that comes up on a search for "AGP 4X/8X" and "Geforce 6800GT" though; it's an ASUS mutant with only 128MB of DDR. Go figure.

BFG makes good stuff. I would stay away from the 6800gt's if you like Bf2, they don't like the game. The X800Xl is a better buy, $280 in PCI-e, giving you some cash to get more ram, Hd space, or another game if you want. I would wiat till the 7800gt's come out, they price will come into your range quickly, the 6800gt's fell about $60 in 3 months.

Yes. I'd buy Radeon. Nvidia thinks its better right now but it's gonna lose to ATI this time due to the fact that their once "All-Mighty" 6800 Ultra now is pathetic on BF2. (Who the hell wants to pay $600 for a 7800 anyway?) Get a X850 at 256mb.
