Okay, I've narrowed it down to two possible choices. I have a Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO PCIX 256MB weighing in at $210 CDN in one corner. In the other corner, I have a Leadtek GeForce 7600 GT PCIX 256MB weighing in at $250 CDN. Will this extra $40 make me a happier gamer? Or should I stick with my ATI- loving instincts? Get ready to rumble!:smokin:

Out of those two, the 7600gt.

How much can you get an x1800xt for? That's a great card who's price has dropped recently. It will cost a bit more than a 7600gt, but it will kick it's as$ in performance so it's well worth it. As an ATI fan, you should look into it.

Agreed. I've seen some great prices on those 1800's lately.

Looks like I can get a Radeon X1800 GTO 256MB PCIX for about $300 CDN.

Again, would this make me ecstatically happy that I paid $100 over the X800 GTO?

The X1800XT is more than $500 CDN - waay out of my poor university student price range by far.

Nah, the x1800 gto is clocked alot lower than the x1800xt. You'd be better off with the other two you are considering.

I'm not sure on my exchange rates, but that price for the x1800xt sounds extremely high compared to the other prices in your OP. That even sounds high for the 512mb version.

Some US prices (from newegg) for reference:

($165 USD) x800 gto - 400/980 256mb/256bit

($170 USD) 7600gt - 580/1500 256mb/128bit

($186 USD) x1800 gto - 500/1000 256mb/256bit

($239 USD) x1800xt - 625/1500 256mb/256bit

($299 USD) x1800xt - 625/1500 512mb/256bit
