Ok, well due to my lack of knowledge about new motherboards, i purchased myself an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard assuming it had on-board VGA. (I was planning to buy a Card at christmas when i had more moolah). Anywho, GREAT board, but well, i can't use it. I was wrong, no on-board VGA. So here i am, stuck with a REALLY cool (Well, at least I think so. :D) , brand new PC that I cannot use. So, I am now planning to get a Graphics Card, sooner then later. :) Would like some advice. I am most probably settling with the Geforce 7800GT, but I want to find the CHEAPEST (without loss of quality) one. (In Australia) I found an XFX or something for $579 AUD. I don't really think it is good though. Here is a link... http://www.nintek.com.au/x/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=3918 I also found an ASUS one (roughly $100 more), which I like, and I am confident in buying ASUS. Link... http://www.jw.com.au/products_closeup.asp?part=PCI%2DE+N+Series&part_no=2208&index=Graphic+Cards&subindex=PCI%2DE+N+Series Now I am trying to negotiate with my wallet on which one to purchase.... But need some advice, (especially C38368 because he knows his stuff)... Thanks in advance. :)
Dont get XFX get Asus also try and get the 7800GTX if you have the money ;)
JakkcDont get XFX get Asus also try and get the 7800GTX if you have the money ;)
why not XFX? what reasons do you have for that statement? they have been reviewed at labs like extremetech and have been recommended by them. i have a 6600gt, runs great, no problems.
Well back when i was a lot more 'n00by' than i now am i asked about different branded GPU's and got told this

So they are my reasons ;)
it still doesn't tell me anything other than for what i see, is his opinion. i had a gainward in one computer before ( i used to run two offices of computers) and i never had an issue with it, conversely, i had three leadteks and all three failed after one year. so i personally don't buy leadteks anymore, but i don't consider myself knowledgeable enough of all their products to say don't buy them. i tend to trust the guys that review them for a living on opinions of cards, but i definitely like to hear everyone experiences. but all you and your quote have done is say a generalized statement with no sources or personal experience.
Well at the end of the day its your option to what card you get. Im just trying to give you my opinion as well. Anything is a opinion even reviews are opinions its just up to what opinion you choose
some are opinions, some are facts. the guys that review them do run tests on them for perfomance, but can't always measure realiability. so i agree that in that aspect, it is opinion. but i would never take someones bold statement that all leadteks are good cards, or that all gainwards are bad and spread it around. i believe, like all things created and manufactured, that they have some winners and some losers.
Thanks for the input guys.
I decided on neither, and got an MSI 7800GTX. :naughty:
