I was wondering if anyone has had their Firefox startup page spontaneously change languages? I am using Firefox version 1.0.6, and yes, my home page does point to the UK locale, as shown below: http://start.mozilla.org/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official Yet this link points to a dutch version of the startup page. As shown here. I am reasonably certain it is a server-side issue, I was just wondering if anyone here has ever had this happen to them before?

that can happen if you use a proxy.....google can detect where the IP is coming from, and change language accordingly

No proxy here. Firefox just spontaneously changes locales every so often. EDIT: I just disconnected/reconnected, and now everything seems OK. Weird. Maybe Tiscali decided to re-route me through a foreign proxy for that session. I dunno. A lot can happen in the weird and wonderful world of the Internet. Thanks for the advice though.

Some sites use a database of IP prefixes to determine your location. It's a simple cron job to update the database every so often and then use it with PHP or something. php.net uses it, and they've got a section on it.
