Hi, I read the thread below about sata vs IDe and stuff and I was wondering if it is possible to: I have a new Pc and an old PC. Both are SATA HDD's. On the new one I have a spare HDD plugy cabley thing. Is it possible to add the old PCs HDD to the new PC? It would mean they both have XP installed is that a problem? Can i remove the OS from the old HDD. Ideally I dont want to format it because there are loads of documents mp3s and the like that I would like to carry over. The old PC is un-operational so I cant back them up first :( Thanks guys!

I would die without GF

Put the drive in, copy them to the existing hard drive, format it and move them back. Simple enough. Although you'll probably have to format the drive outside of Windows - I don't think the partition tool included with Windows will let you format a drive with Windows on it, even if it's not the one you're using.
