I don't use headset phones, I use regular stereo set to play games as I don't use teamspeak etc. I do reccomend the brand SENNHEISER . On this page you will find some good ones: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Manufactory=&PropertyCodeValue=929%3A8218&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&description=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&SubCategory=70&Submit=Property

I'm sure headset useres will chime in as well.

Ultrasone makes one of the best, if not the best headphones around. I bought a pair of their headphones ($250CAD) about 4 months ago, and I'm loving them since. If you are intrested look around their website. Here is the pair I got http://www.ultrasone.com/htdocs/08_frameset/dj_index.php (DJ not DJPro) 110493341788_p.jpg

This review might be helpful: http://www.tomshardware.com/consumer/20050714/headset-01.html

Unfortunately I don't know what a boom mic is, but this should have a basic mic and 5.1 sound.

Oh and Roadkill, gaming with headphones is the best. You can hear every sound.. footsteps etc. No speaker system can compare. You will love it. Just get GOOD ones ;)

...like Audio Technicas. You'll drop a pretty penny on them, but I've yet to come across a brand more regaled for their ability to create a near-perfect 360° soundstage. The A900s usually crop up most often, and only cost around US$200. Logitech has some behind-the-head phones with a boom mic, but I've heard that they're uncomfortable for extended periods, and will guarantee that they can't compare to the above. And just for kicks, I'll let you know how Shure E4s sound next week ;) No boom mic on those, either. But then again, no truly quality 'phones will have one. Not that such a limitation would stop you from McGuyvering one together yourself.
