Hello all, I am completely new to online gaming and am looking for some help in putting together my first gaming rig. I was just recently turned onto PC gaming from a few buddies at work. Been playing Call of Duty with my machine that's barely strong enough to run it on low settings. I've gotten better at it and see that this machine is really limiting me. I'm also interested in buying COD2 and see that this machine is not sufficient enough. Anyhow, I've got a budget of 6-700 dollars and was hoping I'd find someone patient enough to help me piece together a decent system. I will be using my old monitor, keyboard and mouse for now. I may ask for a monitor from my wife for my Bday. Also, i've tried reading some old threads but was wondering if someone maybe had a link with a crash course to PC building or something to get me up to speed with all the jargon and hardware. I'm a fast learner, but haven't really been interested in CPU's till now. Thanks in advance for any help on launching this noob to his newest interest/addiction.

have a look in the knowledge base :-http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=177131

there is info on building your own pc, and plenty more on the internet if you look. its not that difficult to build a pc, all the parts, cables etc are indexed so its pretty much impossible to get it wrong.(theres always us if you aren't sure) the other option is to buy a base unit as you are using your old monitor and stuff, plenty out there, american members here will have a better idea of where to look and prices, spec etc. some one is bound to find suitable stuff for you.

Also, my buddy has a resellers licnese with a local PC shop and says he can get it cheaper, minus the tax. So fudging the line at 700 is okay. Thanks again gang, I should be gaming by next week if all goes well and everything is in stock. BTW, thanks for the link on the Knowledge base, exactly what I was looking for. Should be up to speed shortly, thanks again. Still open for suggestions on different configurations (although, from what I've been reading on here, that is pretty much on mark), thanks.
