Core 2 Quads at the current time are somewhat useless. Arcadeplayer has the right idea with the E8xxx series. They are roughly 200 dollars, but they can run circles around the Athlon 64 X2s, except above the 6000+; in which case they will only run about one circle.

Also, you might want to try and find a motherboard that supports DDR21000 without overclocking.

I'll quote myself from another thread in regard to the Antec Nine Hundred, which I own myself btw:

tyrannicida;4157885One bad thing about the Nine Hundred is that you cannot attach the case fans to the motherboard or PSU. You can only change the speed manually by opening the case and switching between low, medium and high. :/

Skeletine;4194294Should I choose NCIX.com - Buy AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Dual Core Processor Socket AM2 Windsor 3.0GHZ 2000FSB 2X1MB 90NM Retail Box - ADX6000CZBOX In Canada. (the Athlon 65 X2 6000+), or is it worth the extra $40 to get the NCIX.com - Buy Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Dual Core Processor LGA775 3.0GHZ Wolfdale 1333FSB 6MB Retail *Limited Qty* - BX80570E8400 In Canada. (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400)?

Thanks

8400 all the way because it is much better than X2 6000+. Even E6750 is faster than X2 6000

Is the E8400 worth the $300 for my needs though? I'd be using it for some high quality games like Crysis, pretty undemanding Photoshop use, audio editing, and possibly some video editing.
