marvinmatthew;3775444Alienware is overpriced. Dell does as good a job at a better price with their XPS series.
i was just thinking the same thing. for about $500 cheaper. you get basically the same thing
8600Go is not to great anyway
just a couple more quick questions. 1st of all, is it possible to get a video card upgrade at some point on a notebook? i might want to do that at some point. also, is the screen upgrade worth it? how much does that do? finally, what's wrong with vista? i never heard. ps. i looked at the XPS and to get a slightly better model cost about $3800. the only main differences in it were a 17 inch screen and a slightly better video card and processor (running at 2.33 GHz) thanks again guys
i was reading PC WORLD and it had references to a 8600M card for moble DX10
Rookie;3772682I wouldn't call that a casual gamer's notebook. More like mid-to-high end. Still, if you can afford it by all means go for it.
QFT. :nodding:

Only some of the top-of-the-line laptops from the high-end OEM's (like Alienware or Falcon NorthWest) support upgradeable graphics cards. And when you are ready to upgrade the card, it's gonna cost you an arm and an leg.
When you mention, "the screen upgrade," what upgrade are you referring to?
Vista demands more resources than XP does. So while you're playing games, your computer will have to give the Vista operating system more resources, and won't be able to give the game as much power.
