Well, you need obviously Vista, and to play it probably some version of DirectX, as well as sound and graphics drivers, but to install the game itself, no, you don't.

Rome dls but it doesnt have a proper icon on rome on the desk top and when i click on it , it doesnt load up ,

med i think the game is old and scratched so prob need a new game.

What? Are you installing it off a disc or is this a downloaded version?

Try going into the actual install folder (probably in C:\Program Files\ somewhere) and launching it from the .exe itself.
