I recently installed AOE (1, if you must know) on my brothers PC. It worked alright but then when he restarted his computer it got up to the Windows XP loading screen then crashed while a blue screen (the crash screen) flickered once then came off. (too fast to read)

So I am wondering, is there a way to System Restore without actually logging in?

Ok, thanks. Any suggestions on what I could do besides reinstall Windows?

Have you tried booting into safe mode yet?

Yes, it comes up with a few lines of text saying something about partition and disk then restarts, again.

I think it might be the registry (we had to use a no-cd crack for it to work; we are on XP and it was going funny on XP, not 98 or whatever it is used to.).

If I can get into SafeMode, I'll just delete that part of the registry (everything to do with AOE) and go from there.

The hard part is getting in to Safe Mode. =p

If I may ask. Why don't you just do a system repare with logging in? I'm rather confused why you need to by-pass the login part. Password protected or something?

I can't even get to the Log In screen. It crashes. I don't get enough time to read the report because it restarts itself.
