Hate to break it to you, but you haven't got a hope in hell of playing Half-Life 2 with a PCI card with anything more than 5 frames per second. I'd use that $150 to get a new motherboard instead, such as PCIe or AGP motherboards.

What Reven said. Get a new motherboard that will work with all of your current hardware, and then get an AGP or PCI-E x16 (Preferred, because AGP is losing ground to PCI-E).

PCI is the oldest, and hardly used now. Won't run modern games well. AGP up until 2004 was the favoured bridge, and will run modern games well. PCI Express is the newest and industry standard, and will run modern games very well.

I have a PC that has PCI slots only and it plays Doom3, Battlefield Vietnam, PointOfExistence, etc with framerates around 45-60. All of these games with a FX5700 128MB PCI card.

Newegg is your friend. The best you'll be able to get is around a 5700LE.

thanx a lot...i was just comparing the 5500 to the 5700, and it says that the 5500 has a memory interface of 128 bit, and the 5700 has a memory interface of 64 bit...does that mean i'll get worse graphics with the 5700?? and also, the 5500 has a core clock of 270 mhz, and the 5700 has a core clock of 250 mhz...does taht mean that the 5500 is more powerful?? Thank You!!

You are wasting good money on crap parts there............ Are you SURE your mobo doesnt have AGP or PCIe???? What are your specs????? If theres no AGP or PCIe then save up for a new rig thats PCIe later, u can get a OK PC for like $600 these days.
