Hey not been using my gaming system for a few weeks. Plugged it in today, booted it up... went to move my guitar and a few seconds later, BLAM! Bright spark from the rear of the computer and it was out cold :( :0wned: Now upon investigating I found that the power cable I had been using was my old computers 10 AMP instead of my Gaming computers 5amp... However despite switching leads ive found no evidence in a fault of the cable. I'd used the 10 AMp for 6 months on both computers and never had too much of a problem. However the computer refuses to start. based on the info, I believe that onwe of the internal fuses would have blown, most likely in the power unit. Can someone be so kind enough to enlighten me on WTF I should do??? :cya: ( Without having evil PC World "SpEsHaLliSpTs!" doing the job and charging £10000000000000's) P.S, Yes it is still under warantty but Id prefer if I could avoid paying £80 postage costs... Thanks in advance

Changed title, and moved from Spam to Tech.
Ah hehe well I had already posted but decided I might as well post it in Spam aswell, title was to get attention :D Sorry, my bad.
Replace the PSU.
Sounds like you may have blown your power supply. I do believe they're designed to take the bullet for the main components of the PC whenever a fault is present (I could be easily mistaken though). If you know your way around building your comp or someone you know does, see if they can put an extra power supply in there they may have.
(don't rely on spam forum for a serious reply )
EDIT: Gargh, Archaon beat me to it :(. But yeah, that's 2 for PSU.
If you're lucky, your power supply unit was all that was destroyed, and it will be a relativly cheap fix.
However, the dramatic way in which you describe the death of your computer makes me think that there's a strong potential that much more than the power supply unit was damaged.
If it is under warrenty I'd get it repaired by PC World. It'd probably be easier.
Doh. Nevermind. I forgot that he posted twice.
I dunno where he's from but PC World isn't big outside of the UK mate.
