You guys haven't failed me yet.. So here goes another question:

What large capacity MP3 player would you recommend?

I want something with 20 gigs minimum, long battery life, and no stupid software that is required to "load" songs on and off. I'm not really into looks, but size is nice.

This new trend to have TV shows (and any other video) stored on Mp3 players is really neat. (Like the iPod.)

I'd be fine using iTunes for something like getting TV shows, but I'd rather not use an iPod for having heard bad things about batteries dieing, and the stuff regarding iTuns as your software to use the Pod.

Basically, I'd like an Mp3 player/movie/tv watcher thingy without the size or cost. Really, an iPod spin off. (Unless those bad thing's I've heard about iPod are false, then I'm pretty much set against them.)

Well, the whole bit about the battery dieing used to be true. On the first a second gen iPod's, the lithium battery would die after about 200 charges. But, now that is a thing of the past. I have no idea what you mean though when refering to transfering your music from iTunes to your iPod, as far as I now I can't say that I've ever heard anyone have a prob with it.

How 'bout this one? http://www.archos.com/products/pc_centric/gmini_402/index.html I've seen it in Dubai once, and over here once more and I really like it.

Features:

2.2" color screen 20 GB* hard drive Music player: play up to 10,000 songs1 Photo wallet: store up to 200,000 photos1 Video player: play up to 80 hours of video1 TV output: watch movies & make slide shows on TV Transfer photos directly from your digital camera

You can even play games on it! Have a look, I really liked it and if I had the money I would definately buy it!

Having to use iTunes is my prob. I'd rather just drop and drag my media.

Ah, yes I see your point. I counter that with the fact that ussing iTunes is a much better way to organize your music rather than just dragging and dropping. Espically when it comes to large capacity players that can hold a few thousand songs.

/me likes the look of that Archos player.

I hate having to use specific programs to do stuff as well. iTunes seems okay, but you can't get a drag and drop view for transfers AFAIK except on the Shuffle, either that or if you do it thru explorer you can't play it even if it's there.

No, I wouldn't say that. There are a few things I should point out about it though, -It's designed as a DVR first, and a digital music player second. -It's significaintly more expensive that most MP3 players. -I've never seen one in action. -Who the hell is Archos?

The iPod is proven as a reliable, and effiecent MP3 player, probably the most reliable and efficient player in the world. That's why I have no problem recomneding it.

By DVR, do you mean video player? About the price, if I remember correctly it was 1250 Dirhams = 125 Rials = 325 US Dollars. Isnt the IPod video much more expensive? Who cares that Apple is better known than Archos? As long as you get proper warranty etc. you will be fine.

One thing I prefer about the Archos, I think it looks better than the IPod. Although, Aeg is the one that will be buying it so I'll leave it up to him to choose :)
