Does anyone know how to make the windows in XP stop flashing in the taskbar whenever they change? (This will help me tons, thanks in advance) (Sorry if this was unclear, what I really want to know is how to make them stop flashing in the first place, without having to open each one)

Apparently you are the first person to request that this feature be disabled. I'm looking, and I can't find any info.

I'm sure there is a registry key somewhere that can be edited, perhaps something to do with tasks, and/or notification.

Unfortunately this seems to be one of the hardest questions to answer...

Download a copy of TweakUI http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx After you run it, in the "General > Fodus" settings uncheck the "Flash taskbar button" TweakUI gathers a lot of options like this and puts them into one convenient window. Always a good thing to have. trust me you'll find it very usefull.

My question has a little to do with the thread's topic. Can you change the color of the flashing taskbar window in XP? I want to keep the blue or silver XP theme, it looks better than the '98 style theme. The bright orange is annoying. Something red, really light blue, or green would be nice. Is this possible? TIA

Ok, thanks for the suggestion, but Tweak UI doesn't seem to allow me to eliminate the flashing, only to choose between letting the window flash a certain number of times or until I click it. There is a checkbox for "Prevent applications from stealing focus." And two radio buttons "Flash taskbar until I click on it" and "Flash taskbar button ___ times" (I cannot use zero as a number). Any other ideas?

Just a quick question but why do you want it to stop flashing?

I don't want my parents bugging me about my instant messages all the time, and it it just generally annoying for me.
