Ensign RilesI really wouldn't suggest you overclock for two reasons. First, it really is not something you should do unless you are quite familar with computers.

:agreed If you have to ask, you shouldn't be doing it :nodding:

msiv48Ok i need to know how to overclock my processor for more proformance. I have Windows XP Pro 5.1.2600 build 2600 dell 4550 it came with an obviously cheap processor called the 'x86 Family 15 model 2 setpping 6 GenuineIntel ~2392mhz' BIOS version 2.3 1024MB RAM Could i possibly overclock the processor to get more proformance? it has sufficent cooling, a hood going right to the heatsink, out through the back.

You can't..Dell has locked the bios

ETEYou can't overclock CPU's (or mem or FSB) in Dell's. It's locked in the BIOS.

you can always load a new bios. but still i dont recommend it

Or if you know the settings for your computer, You can always remove the CMOS battery, use the jumper reset (Probably not on dell) or use some hex edits in dos to refresh. There is also a method where you would create a short in certain points of the chip where the BIOS information is stored. I myself would probably find the jumper reset or use the Battery removal one first. And by the way, if you do remove the battery, leave it out with the computer off for 24 hours, while the computer is unplugged. this will make sure it is erased.

What new BIOS? Dell use their own custom Bios, which have no frequency settings. Never found a "hacked" Bios for Dell's. Dell really don't want you to overclock their PC's.
