How do I update my firmware for my router WRT54G.
I got as far as the page where you browse for the file... But I dont know what file to update.... Help please.
On the bottem of my router it says version 6, anyone care to point me out to the correct download?
I have v5 of the same router, so I'm not sure how close this'll be.
1. Go here, and scroll down on the list until "WRT54G v6.0" is selected. Then, click the "Downloads" button. Then, go to "Firmware" and download the firmware. 2. Go to the router admin page (192.168.1.1), select the tab labeled "Administration" at the top, and then on the tab beneath select "Firmware upgrade". 3. Select the file and begin.
Make sure you don't do it over a wifi connection, as that could cause problems - the router may shut down the connection and cut off the download leaving you with a nonfunctional firmware and router.
Hope this works.
if yoy dont know i sugest you dont. unless ua re 4 version out of date then update it.
Upgrading the firmware on your router is genereally a good idea from time to time. Often, it will give you some new settings/configuarability.
Thanks trekkie.
Not a problem, glad I could help.
One additional thing is that once you update the firmware on your router you should also power cycle it so that all of the new settings to completely install.
On another note if your ever in doubt about updating the firmware on your Linksys router you can always call the Linksys tech support line and they'll walk you through the steps of upgrading it. (its a free call as well)
