I have a router, and plan on getting another xbox so i can link them together, and play halo 2! The problem is that i dont know how to do it. I have a router, which a coupe of the computers in my house are using, and luckily for me, the router is a couple feet away from my xbox. So the question is, how do i do it? Thanks in advance.
i think you need the xbox router, but i'm not entirely sure, but you plug the cables into the xobx, and the other end of each cable into the router, and power to the router, from there, the xboxes should detect each other
Homer Gonersoni think you need the xbox router
never heard of it :uhm:
just buy two ethernet cables and plug your two xboxs into the router
i thnk all it is is just a nromal router that microsoft stole from Linksys, painted green, and called it their own.... ok, i couldn't find what my friend had... but heres a cable you buy and link the 2 together directly.... i'm too lazy to find the US $ site.... http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/hardware/systemlinkcable.htm
thats not a router its a ethernet cable
but you wont need to use your router if your two xboxs are close enough to plug them together with one ethernet cable. if theyre spread out then you can use your router to use two ethernet cables

So I can link them directly?! Please tell me so, they will only be a couple feet away! Im going to buy the xbox today, awnser fast please!
I didn't make it!
YOu need a specifically designed link cable for the XBox to link two xboxs directly to another. If you dont want to hastle with buying one I would suggest just plugging them both into a router with standard Ethernet cables works the same but more clutter.
the specifically designed cable is enthernet so if the two xboxs are close you wont even need your router
I have no clue where you all got the idea of a "certain" cable/router in your head I think you have fallen victim to microsoft's marketing
I plugged a cable between them, and it didnt work, but using a router worked. So im happy.:)
The cable u need is a patch/crossover cable. There are guides on the internet that show you how to make them or you can go down to radioshack and buy one for about $6 to $10.
