I recently bought Prototype, had some serious audio issues. Game was way too quiet, crackling sound in the menus and cutscenes, and really laggy menus. For now, that isn't my problem.

I need to access my Speaker Settings under Sounds and Audio Devices, but everything is grayed out, is there a reason for that?

I've never updated my audio drivers until today, my dxdiag says it's a Sigmatel Audio.

Actually, scratch that, according to my computer, there's a problem with audio device. I don't have one all of a sudden.

What the hell?

Do you get a message saying there are no active mixer devices or something?

Try this:

Start --> Run --> services.msc --> Windows Audio --> Check that it's started. If it's not, start it and put it on automatic.

I don't think that's a guarantee that it will not do it again, but since I did this I haven't had any problems with this sort of problem with my speakers or headphones.

No, it's just grayed out.

Hm, apparently my sound card uninstalled itself. Well, system restore time.

Or you could try installing the driver again...would be quicker I'd say?

A Sys Restore for one driver reinstall is a bit of a panicked reaction. Only use Sys Restore if it's your last option.

Meh, I already did it.

Can someone actually help me find the proper drivers? I Google "Sigmatel Audio Drivers" and get nothing.

Find out your motherboard model and get the driver from the motherboard manufacturer's site. Either use something like CPU-Z or take the side panel off - the model name/number will be stamped on there somewhere.

Download Software, Drivers and Utilities

I'm at the download center on the Intel website, I don't even see anything relating to the PRAGUE motherboard.

You're looking for a model number, if it's an Intel-produced board it won't be called something like Prague, it'll have a model number like D945GCL, DG965RY, D865GSA etc etc.

Prague sounds more the city it may have been manufactured in :~ Also curious - don't you have something like a sigmatel control panel, or software. Similar to realtek's? Try looking into program files, might be there.
