Well, my (seemingly crappy) Dell 5650 5.1 speakers blew out a few weeks ago only 7 days after the warranty was up, and now I am left with a nice gaming computer, a few games, and $120 of debt to my parents with no speakers to game with. So for my birthday, June 14th, I was hoping to get a Sony SDM-HS75P/S 17 inch LCD monitor (has X-BRITE), and a pair of crappy (or atleast cheap) 5.1 speakers. Are there any out there for less than $100 that will sound good for music/gaming and wont blow out 7 days after the warranty ends?
Well, can you put alot of work into them? You can buy a cheap 5.1 amp off of ebay for $50 then find some old speakers that need some stuff repaired. It would be about $50 for parts, more if the speakers are big. I did a set of 15inch speakers for about $120, you can't buy them in stores for that much. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836113142 if you don't want to mess around, only $70 shipped.
Look at newegg.com Heres some links to look at for under 100$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836116137 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836116136 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836116151 There made by creative so there good probely better than the dells.
The set in the last link you gave me looks good. Thank you for rescuing me from the pair of logitech speakers I was about to buy...

What's wrong with logitech? I have them and they're great...
The ones you have may be great, but I wasn't looking forward to the pair I had picked out. They were analog, 70 watts, and looked very cheeply made.
Get the altec's. They are from a company that makes only audio equipment(speakers, headphones) and they have been around for a long time.
Same has creative. Creative only make sound eqipment and been around since like 1994. There the people that make the sounblaster audigy sound cards. The best sound cards out there.
i still aint got my soundcard yet
What soundcard is that?
