Well, i went onto my profile on youtube and it was definately the work of some half brained 4channer, because my background was pink, all my personnel stuff was changed, and yadda yadda yadda. Although i think a large part of it COULD have been that my password was my profile name, although i have now changed my password. So i just need to know, where or how can i get rid of this key logger?

... Your pw was your username, since you changed your password, make sure they didn't change any other settings (email, etc) and they should be ousted.

My advice? Use a program such as Search and Destroy, or Avast, they seem to be pretty good at picking up such things.

Another word of caution. Don't have your username as your password, it is predictable beyond reason.

I remember I once logged onto Youtube and there were some channels on my subscriptions list that I knew I hadn't subscribed to myself....my pw was also my username :)

Your barking up completely the wrong tree. Your account was accessed because you ignored the advice everybody gives out for passwords and picked a password a child could get with a first guess.

Little kids with no technical skills run scripts that try and guess passwords by throwing commonly used passwords at them, like %username%, password etc. A decent password comprised of random characters such as "K.hs^9fR0" would require so long to brute force by entering random combinations that it is effectively unbreakable. That is the standard that you should be using for passwords. Personally, I would prefer that people use one decent secure password rather than ten different passwords that can be guessed within a few seconds.

A keylogger is where you have a program running on your computer collecting the keystrokes that you enter on the computer to capture passwords. This will not be the problem; its going to be your password was to easily guessable.

Hopefully you will learn something from this, otherwise next time might be something more painful like a bank account.

Well i've had my youtube account with the same password for about 3 years. Never thought of changing it.

If you ever believe that a keylogger is active on your computer but need to enter sensitive information, don't type it all in at once. For example, either copy and paste the necessary letters, or type a letter then type gibberish somewhere else. Makes it much more difficult to retrieve useful information.

On-screen keyboard is also useful.
