Hardocp.com for my technology reviews, cause I'm tired of the bias that comes from both Anandtech and Tomshardware.

computernerd;4920268I'm tired of the bias that comes from both Anandtech and Tomshardware.

No website can free of bias, unless they are completely inexperienced with computers and technology. Which I doubt since they are reviewing parts of the computers and are going to have some bias towards it depending on if they had a bad or good experience with the companies product.

I agree with you on Tom's, but Anandtech is still the go to place for reviews in my book.

I haven't seen any other sites with reviews done as well and as detailed, that's overall mind you, they do have their slip ups and bias here and there but that's going to be true of any review that's done by a person.

The only thing i really look at on Tom's are their CPU and VGA charts, just to get a general idea of how things stack up when i'm not sure.

Hardocp can be useful, seeing as they seem to do more reviews than the other sites, but Anandtech is still the place to go.

To be honest, I actually prefer more forum based reviews (with the exception of a few) from members that really know the gear but aren't actually running a site that caters to getting constant freebies thrown their way (you know who you are). Hardforum and XtremeSystems come to mind. Sure, I know some are going to say Hardforum, HardOCP, same thing. Well I find not necessarily so.

The worst I have found, and to this day I don't get why so many sites refer to their reviews with links, is Bjorn3D. The guys that do reviews on their site are constantly bragging about the free stuff they get, and if you comment on it, they will insist they work hard for it and are unbiased. I say BS! Their reviews are nothin but simplictic butt kissing that never holistically show all the minuses of the product.

Forum reviews are usually only anecdotal, and suffer from unusually high levels of FOTMism. Sometimes you get gems (Martinm210 springs immediately to mind) but usually not. They're nice for the "real world" aspect (that is, most people don't test upgrades on a blank slate like Anandtech does) but tend to lack the more esoteric aspects of a good review and are often subjective on multiple issues (such as noise).

C38368;4920606Forum reviews are usually only anecdotal,...

The key word being usually, not always. I did after all say with exceptions and from members that really know the gear. I also only mentioned two forums. That in itself narrows things down considerably. You have to do the same thing with so called expert reviews too anyway, so what's the difference?

When it comes right down to it, there's no generalizing where to get the best reviews from. If you can't take the time to get to know the person doing the review and the extent of their knowledge, you have no business judging their expertise.

Now you'll see exactly why I chose HardOCP, it's reviews are extremely fair for both sides:

I agree with their conclusion. The GTX 295 cost's way too much for what you get.
