....or crapbag (speaking about Windows ME) I doubt the average user has any negative views about Windows though, despite possibly having awful past experiences with OS's such as 98. Most people don't know what an OS is, and definatley don't know of other OS's. Hell some people in my college seem to think Intel are the only people who make "computers" roll%20eyes%20%28sarcastic%29.gif I think Microsoft would be still be ok if they re-named Longhorn "Everyone Sucks"...it would still be bought and used everywhere.

The average user, after using windows XP and seeing that microsoft DO know how to make an OS, will buy the next OS under the windows brand. I think changing the name will provide alot of average and below-average users to miss there product on the shelves and pick up an olde windows XP box instead.

I've seen screenies of a beta Longhorn. Jesus christ, you must need like a 1ghz processor just to run the desktop!! Well, I'm personally glad their takin their time making things work over the next two years, maybe they'll come out with a really decent system...

Yeah, hopefully... My old computer had Windows ME. Man, that one is the worst thing that happened to to me on a computer, ever. But now I use Windows 2000, and its perfectly fine, I like it, and it runs well. I still haven't gotten Windows XP because A) I don't want to spend $100 on it, and B) I still think it looks kind of fruity.

Heh, anyone else think the Longhorn beta looks like a shined up XP? I don't see what the big deal over it is, Microsoft has been dropping features left and right. That being said, I would love to try out the beta on my laptop if Microsoft were to open it up a bit more to the public.

What you have to remember (and this was the case with XP / Whistler) is that the final will be nothing LIKE the Beta. Most of the Beta's of XP were very much like 2000. Same GUI and feel and rumors of dissapointment.
